Subject: Cut and paste, a problem in schools.
We´re students in 2nd ES at Albert Einstein Institute. We started this year talking about plagiarism in schools. The article we read is “Cut and paste essays, a problem in schools” that appeared in Breaking News English, Jan 22, 2008. The article talks about a serious problem in schools, plagiarism. The text says that students do not study, they copy and paste from the web. It also says that pupils are real losers because as they copy they don´t learn and they lack the skills they appear to have.
Alter reading the article we think that cheating is detrimental for students because they don´t learn anything, they don´t understand anything and they cheat just for passing tests. We believe, it is absolutely necessary to find a solution to spot and stop copying. To solve this problem, teachers can talk to their students to make them aware that having knowledge of something is the best for them and their future. So we think that schools can use a software to detect plagiarism.
We´re very interested in your opinion about cut and pasting from the internet and we also want to know what measures you would take to stop this because we wonder if you have another view of the problem and if you agree with us or if you have other solutions.
We send our regards. We´ll be waiting for an early answer.
