Currently, the process of education at school is cultivating a set of attitudes and behaviors which are directly opposed to what seems to be needed in work life. Consequently, students find themselves puzzled and unable to make good decisions when facing real life problems, and that's why adopting and updating school curriculums has become a matter of considerable concern.
Concerning students' preparation for real work life, they are being trained to deal with closed problems individually, but when they finally find a job aiming to put in practice everything learned, hey realized most of the work they have to do must be done in groups and most of the problems they have to deal with are open ended. Furthermore, subjects are too theoretical and, even though that's good, they should also be practical. Activities such as setting up links with local businesses in which students could learn something about work life and more cross curricular projects may be some solutions to that issue.
In addition to that, there are well trained teachers but with very narrow minds, who treat their students as if they were sausage cases stuffing them with tons of information and then sending them up. By doing so explanations become monologues, classes become boring and students don't learn as much as they could. To avoid this and to achieve an effective teaching-learning process, more interactive teaching methods should be added to school curriculums. Making debates and writing more argumentative compositions could be some solutions.
To conclude, adding working experience to school curriculums and including more interactive teaching methods would make students capable of handing real life difficulties and would also help in the development of a more efficient work force for the future.
