Living in Argentina
Three immigrants, three stories, three lives
by Cupeiro, Recchia Páez, Tartaglia y Vozza.

I'm Elene Owen Smith. I came from the South of Texas to Argentina twenty-nine years ago. I came to Argentina because in USA I was working in a company and it sent me to this country.
It was difficult to get used to the people. It was more difficult for my children because they didn't speak Spanish and I had to look for a bilingual school.
One of the best aspects of Argentina is the people. They are very friendly and they cook very delicious food. It was easy to make friends.
I really miss life in USA because it was easier but here it is quieter and more relaxing. I love the south beaches and the hills. I go to relax there.

Francisco Piaget came from France to Argentina ten years ago to work. He and his family were living in the South of Paris. He came to our country with his family.
At that moment, he had two boys and a girl and for him it wasn't difficult to send his children to school because they went to a French school. He thought that it was very difficult to communicate with other people because he didn`t know Spanish. He didn't make friends quickly because he didn't know the language, and it was very difficult to get a house.
He likes the people in Argentina because he thinks that they are very friendly and they are very good people. “I like the countryside, it is very beautiful” said Francisco.
“I like Argentinian food because it is very similar to the food we used to eat” said Francisco.

I'm Federico Cupeiro. I came from Galicia, Spain. I came to Argentina sixty years ago because there was a Civil War in my country.
Ten years later, I had a son and it wasn't difficult to send him to school, because the language was similar. He didn't make friends quickly so it was difficult at the beginning and he didn't have any immigrant friends.
I like the people in Argentina because I think that they are great and I don't
miss the life in Spain very much.
I like Argentinian food.
