Robert
Peter Williams, known in the entire world as "Robbie",
was born in Great Britain, in Stoke-On-Trent, on Wednesday
13th, February 1974. Being a very little boy, at the age of
3, he already started to show his qualities to the world when
he performed "Summer Nights" in
Spain.
Although he already had good qualities for being a star, he
never had such qualities at school. His exam scores
were always awful. Moreover, he was always the class joker
at St. Margaret Ward High School, where he used to go. He
lived with his mum and Sally, an older sister. Robbie and
Jan (his mother) joined a local theater group, in which he
acted and sung pretty often.
His mother was the one who took him to an audition
which selected a few kids (he was 16) to join the band "Take
That". There he enjoyed 5 years full of success, harvesting
lots of fans all around the world who loved him. However,
one day he just said "I quit",
what appeared in every newspaper the next day. He confessed
he had never felt comfortable with his band mates, and said
that they had rules he could not accept about the way they
should behave. Of course, nobody could tell Robbie how to
behave. It was 1995 and Robbie started his own career, but
it wasn't until July 1996 that he could release
his first solo single, which was a cover from George Michael's
song "Freedom". His second single came a year later,which
became a hit in the UK charts.
It was in 1997 that Robbie really reached fame. He released
his greatest hit of all times "Angels" as a Christmas
single. Nobody in his record company was aware of the impact
that song would have in the market. In 1998 the song was still
ranked in the charts, and with "Life
Thru a Lens" he won his privileged place in the world
of music.
Since then, Robbie made great albums containing wonderful
songs, that have topics from love to drug consumption. He
keeps recording hits, and his fans, producers, and company
members have a great music star, and even more important,
a great man.
However, press started with the rumours about his sexuality.
Even nowadays most of the people think he is a homosexual,
but when he is asked about that, he just laughs and says he
is waiting for a woman who can give him a child. In spite
of the rumours about his sexuality, about his "addictions",
he keeps entertaining and surprising his fans
with wonderful music, and the wonderful voice he has always
had.
