Nowadays,
when people talk about music, one of the bands which automatically
comes to their minds is Oasis. This famous band is the most
popular of the Britpop (British pop) generation of the 90's,
and it's also regarded as one of the best bands in the history
of British music. Yes, they are considered to be as good,
popular and representative as legendary bands such as The
Beatles or The Rolling Stones, which sounds quite exaggerated
to those who claim Oasis is not up to the standards
of these bands in terms of success and sound quality.
Oasis took its first steps in 1991, when Noel Gallagher, who
was travelling
all around the world with a band called
The Inspiral Carpets as the guitar technician, was telephonically
informed by his mother in Manchester that his young brother
Liam had joined a band called Rain, with Paul Arthurs (guitar),
Tony McCarroll (drums) and Paul McGuigan. When Liam became
their singer, they changed their name to Oasis.
The next year, Noel joined the band and quickly became the
main songwriter, and in 1993, the Creation
Records' manager listened to them and immediately offered
them a contract, which they finally signed a few months later.
Their first demo, called Supersonic, quickly started to be
broadcast by the BBC radio. At that moment, everybody knew
they were going to be a symbol of the music of the nineties.
Since then, they have been broadcasting their hits all over
the world, with singles such as Champagne Supernova, Don't
look back in anger, Wonderwall, Stand by me, Little by little,
or Stop crying your heart out.
Nowadays they are very well known worldwide,
particularly amongst teenagers and adults, who help them become
a legend and reach the top. The Gallagher brothers continue
to rock out the world. They actually made their dream of being
world-famous music stars come true.
