Within
the large amount of hardcore, punk or heavy metal artists
and bands that have achieved real success in late 90's such
as Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Alice in Chains and many others,
we can easily locate the Californian band Blink 182.
This threesome really knows how to combine
punk music with honest lyrics which sometimes come directly
from the heart. Mark Hoppus (bass/vocals), Tom DeLonge (guitar/vocals),
and the great drummer Travis Barker know how to have fun while
they earn their money selling millions of
copies of their albums all around the world. These guys, except
for Travis who later joined the band, started their career
in 1992, under the Name of Blink. They later had to modify
their name since an Irish techno band played
under that name, and threatened with starting legal
actions against them. Lots of rumours tried to explain
the origin of 182 number, but, in fact, it is just a random
number which sounded good to them.
After spending about three years performing in local punk
festivals they released their first album, called "Cheshire"
(1995), followed by "Dude Ranch" in 1997, which
was their first commercially succesful album. Since then,
they frequently toured with bands such as
NOFX or Pennywise, icons of punk music and idols of skaters
and surfers in whole USA.
In later 1998 they started producing their most popular album
"Enema of the State", which has gone platinum. As
people kept showing increasing interest in them, Dude Ranch
went platinum, too. In late 2001, "Take off your Pants
and Jacket" was released, and it really rocked
their fans' heads.
In spite of the great success this guys achieved all over
the world, Travis and Tom started a pretty interesting project
called Box Car Racer. Although they aren't as succesful as
they are with Blink, they seem to be taking it seriously.
However they continue working on Blink, and all their fans
hope they release new stuff soon, and they
will, for sure. Until this, we all continue to enjoy their
wonderful music and sense of humour which took them where
they belong: Fame.

| I Miss You |
Hello
there, the angel from my nightmare
The shadow in the background of the morgue
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the
valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if we want
Where you can always find me
We’ll have Halloween on Chrismas
And in the night we’ll wish this never ends
We’ll wish this never ends.
(I miss you miss you)
(I miss you miss you)
Where are you and I’m so sorry
I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight
I need somebody and always
This sick strange darkness
Comes creeping on so hauting every time
And as I stared I counted
Webs from all the spiders
Catching things and eating their insides
Like indecision to call you
And hear your voice of treason
Will you come home and stop this pain tonight
stop this pain tonight
Don’t waste your time
on me you’re already
The voice inside my head (miss you miss you)
Don’t waste your time on me you’re already
The voice inside my head (miss you miss you)
Don’t waste your time on me you’re already
The voice inside my head (miss you miss you) |
