THAT PESKY RAT
Written and illustrated by
Lauren Child
Orchard Books, London
Published in 2003
|
The very first sentence of this book is
'This is me'. The main character introduces herself to the reader. The plot is about the adventure of a rat who lives in an alley- though she doesn't want to be a street rat anymore. She wants to belong to an owner and to have a name. She becomes an actual pet by offering herself in an advertisement. But it is a tricky one.
The story is tender and the readers can easily understand the problem. In fact, everybody needs to feel loved.
The illustrations are ingenious. Lauren Child uses different techniques that include photo and collage.

2002.
